Speakin of drag racing

Well today i did something i never though i would end up doin, took my car to the track. Keep in mind, a stock Si is quoted at like 16.4 in the 1/4 from what i've heard. I have a intake, wires, axle back exhaust, a motor with 144k on it but still goin strong, and my elite shifting skillz yo!

Well i made 3 passes. The first 2 were both almost identical, back to back 16.8's for the most part. Hell i couldn't even get lined up against another import at least (a ford lighting and a old nova or charger...well they have nice tail lights). Finally, before my last run i decide to leave my hood open till i was ready to run again, plus it got cooler out. What a great idea this was. Along with me taking out my right parking light so cold air could go in there, then up into the hole were the resonator use to be and feed my intake some more cool air. Anywho, low and behold my last run i get lined up against this 4thgen 4 door with about the same mods as me and a shopping kart wing. He had a killer R/T (.590 vs my .763) but my Si ran after him thru 1st and 2nd, when into third...bye bye rice boy. I knew my car was pullin way harder. I got a 16.5 to his 17.4! My friend who drags alot with his neon wasn't gettin anywhere near his time on this track, he said any other raceway and i woulda been a 16.2, i've never dragged before, but yea tracion kinda sucked, maybe next time. After i parked i walked over the the kid with the 4 door and struck up a conversion, he gave me a good tip to use while watchin the lights and i took his baffel out of his DX PGM-FI box, he was very VERY gratful for that one. Well, it was all in fun, though i would share, and for you enjoyment, my fastest run

I have heard mixed reviews about the DX baffle/vortex/swirly thing...some say it makes the car run crappy...others say it helps..what has been experiences here???

Habib, what has become of us??? Last summer i drove a sound car and you an auto crosser. suddenly i'm finding us both saying sohc
v-tec and 1/4 times!!!

hehe, i havn't autocrossed in like almost 2 weeks (races are spaced out a bit right now). And my car is having starting issues, i'm not sure what yet, cuz there is a small race tommorw but i'm gonna sit it out. My next mod is body work...lord help me not again! I love my Si, but these damn rust holes are hurtin me! btw ami, that new smily face at the top of my post is for you lol!

And sastanley, yea i'd like to tell you if that kid with the DX ran faster or not when he took his air baffel out, but he claimed that on his last run me messed up his launch. Besides i doubt if he did feel anything it wouldn't have been till later when his ECU compensated for the extra air...well i'm guessing anyhow.

Yeah, I know what you mean, some say it helps others say it creates a vortex, so they don't mess with it. I have taken it out and in.. and out and I really didn't notice any difference, maybe just a little more air at real low rpm's (out) but maybe that's just psychological I don't know.
